[Representative or Senator]
300 SW 10th Ave
Topeka, KS 66612

Dear [Representative or Senator]:

Now that coal is no longer an option for Kansas, we have an even better economic opportunity for western Kansas. This opportunity will provide a much wider and greater economic benefit to western Kansas.

Kansas is blessed with an abundance of wind with a huge economic benefit to be spread across western Kansas. We can't miss our opportunity to take advantage of this blessing. According to the NREL, when comparing the economic benefit of the two Sunflower plants to the same energy production from wind power, wind power generates $1 billion more in economic benefits for Kansans ($3.6 Billion vs $2.6 Billion). (NREL is the National Renewable Energy Laboratory managed by DOE)

We need your support to establish a future of clean, renewable energy.

We must unify our efforts, work collaboratively and set aside our differences to address climate change and maximize our economic opportunities in renewable resources. Global warming is not a political issue - it's a moral and economic issue that deserves our attention.

We must work together to ensure we leave Kansas a healthy place to live for our children and grandchildren.

We must work together to become a leader in Wind Power and renewable energy.

We must work together, bury the hatchet, and not squander this huge economic opportunity for Kansas.

Many states, such as Iowa, have Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) requiring that regulated utilities generate clean power from renewable resources to offset pollution from fossil fuel based plants. It is essential to pass RPS legislation that has been languishing in the legislature for several years. In addition, a crash program to build the new transmission lines needed to bring clean power to eastern Kansas and beyond is critical.

Many states, such as Iowa, are attracting new manufacturing jobs and industry in the renewable energy to their state. We can't let Kansas be trounced by our neighbors.

Leadership on the clean, alternative sources of energy issue is desperately needed from your office and the rest of the legislature.

There is no more important issues facing the citizens of Kansas, the Nation, or the Planet.

Sincerely yours,
