URGENT! ACT NOW... (super critical alert)
Governor Sebelius has now vetoed the bill that would pave the way for the Holcomb coal plants (SB 327). Allowing these plants to be built would be an environmental, economic and public health disaster. Make sure the permit denial, which you and so many others worked so hard for is upheld. There is another piece of legislation being crafted that will attempt to allow coal plants in KS. At this point in the legislative session, this bill could not be given proper public consideration and will be rushed through. The pro-coal legislators will likely try to “sweeten” the deal by throwing in a few “green” provisions, but DON'T be fooled. The underlying motive is to put coal plants in KS. The environment needs your help now.
ACTION: Call or write your legislator, even if you have done so before. Tell them the following:

Support the Governor's veto

Oppose ANY new legislation that would allow the coal plants to be built!

No matter how "green" the bill may appear we cannot accept anything that would allow coal in KS.

Write a letter to the editor stating your support for the Governor's veto and your desire for clean energy.

THANK YOU for all that you do. The veto of this bill is a product of your hard work. Our voices are being heard and we're winning against an expensive coal lobby. Let's reiterate our message by making calls to advocate for support of the Governor's veto and opposition to attempts to push through ANY new bills that would allow the coal plants a permit.
